I have worked with the country’s top journalists as a magazine editor, and with at least two generations of students as a Professor of Journalism at the University of Delaware. (I’ve also been a visiting professor at Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania). I’ve conducted writing workshops for the staffs of the Associated Press, the Baltimore Sun, USA Today, and The Chronicle of Higher Education, and have lectured on writing at writers’ workshops, book fairs, and libraries across the country.

And I’ve written, co-written, or edited twelve books, five of them on the subject of writing and the remarkable things that can be done with the English language.
